My values

I believe everyone deserves easy access to information, particularly when it helps them live equally. I’ve made it my purpose to make information clear and available to all, one paragraph at a time.

I operate with 100% respect and inclusivity. My business is about doing small things that make people feel empowered, supported and encouraged. Sometimes, it only takes a sentence to change a life.

Why I write

My values stem from my Dharawal Aboriginal ties running through my Mum’s side, while my Dad migrated to Australia from Mauritius – a small, French-speaking island nation in Africa.

Growing up in a multicultural family and working in professional communications for vulnerable people for over 15 years has shown me how valuable diversity is, and how far we have to go to be inclusive.

I started a writing and editing business to make accessing information easier for people, regardless of birthplace, culture, education or ability.

I’ve honed my skills as a professional communicator in Indigenous and social change organisations, the arts and government. As well as copywriter, I’ve been a journalist, communication strategist and advisor, and media coordinator.

In that time, my connections with the people I wrote about and for were my main motivators to become a professional writer. I found many people missed out on getting the important information they needed – that could help them live better – because of the way it was presented. It was often complicated, hard to find or nonexistent.

In 2018, I set out to work with people and organisations needing a writer who wants to understand their business deeply and reflect it in neat copy.

Writing credentials

I have a Bachelor of Communications and am an ongoing learner.

I’m always into something. After completing an excellent course with Access Easy English, I’m exploring more ways to make sure people who live in remote areas are considered in communications.

I also recently expanded my technical SEO knowledge with the Recipe for SEO Success course.

A member of the Institute of Professional Editors and the Canberra Society of Editors, I stay on top of best practice and current trends in writing and editing.
